Tucson’s presidio walls speak to the vast extent of the Spanish empire. Our contribution to the 2019 Tucson Desert Song Festival celebrates this heritage in a concert of music from Spain and Latin America, in medieval Sephardic monophony, 16th and 17th century songs with the vihuela and Baroque guitar, bold zarzuela arias, and vibrant villancicos. This rich repertoire will intermingle with lively dances for string band and percussion.
